I bought these speakers based on that they were manufactured by Yamaha and I just purchased the Yamaha RX-V371 A/V Receiver ranked at 100w per channel. I wasn’t sure to go with the 6 1/2 or the 8 inch. I went with the 8 inch and I am glad I did. They blend in very well in the ceiling. The sound they put out is outstanding. I was hoping for a nice sound and I am blown away how outstanding these sound. I applied a pair for the front speakers in-ceiling and a pair for the rear surrounds in-ceiling in a 5.1 schemes I only have a 8 inch 100 watt powered Yamaha sub in one corner and a Yamaha center that I have right under the TV. The NS-IC800′s added numerous punch to the bass and carry mid and high’s splendid to my ears. The movies sound spectacular and the Music genuinely rocks hard and sound very sweet on the softer recordings. I couldn’t be happier with this bought They were very easy to install and this was my introductory undertake at installing in ceiling, altho I do have an attic above the ceiling which help locating rafters and such. I hope this review assists anybody who is taking into account in ceiling speakers.

I didn’t see a lot of reviews on these since they were new, so I thought I would offer my views I was genuinely attempting to decide whether to buy these, or the SpeakerCraft AIM 8′s. For the money I’m glad I went this route. I am using this primarily for music in my living room, and have two of these hooked up to a Sherwood dual zone 100 watt/channel receiver. No bells and whistles, but good sufficient to drive these. At low volume they are adequate, but genuinely shine once you put such a lot of power to them. Installation was a breeze, and they really look nice. I use my Cowon I7 for most of my music, and use the EQ settings from that through the receiver. These don’t hammer out the bass, but their in-ceiling so I wouldn’t expect them venomous Overall I would highly commend them to anyone looking to spend in the $200 a pair range.

I rate these speakers high because they are a fit for the aim in which I use them. They are a decent home surround sound speaker that do a good occupation of movie sound reproduction. I use them with a Pioneer VSX-1121-K home theater amp. They do a good job of reporducing low and high background movie sounds and bringing the movie to life. Movie background sounds are clear. The speaker has a good base sound and will develop sound with power, which is good when looking at movies with robust sound tracks. The speaker is better at lower base sounds than higher end frequency replica but overall gives a good movie reproduction. As for music, I find the speaker lacking in Quality replication but that was not the reason I purchased the speaker. I would not use these speakers as my introductory music speaker. Mainly due to the less than adequate high frequency replication for music. The speaker is average at music reproduction and are not in the same arena as my old Bose 501′s. Again, I purchased these speakers for surround sound movie viewing and I am happy with them in that regard and I would purchase them again for the same purpose, but for music I switch speaker sources on my amp. The installation is easy but does not include the installation of the wiring for those out there who are not aware. I found having an electric jig saw to cut the sheet rock beneficial. They are sturdy and secure once installed and the installation directions provided are good.

I read review after review and went to best buy several times to listen the the dissimilar brands of ceiling speakers. Compared to the more expensive klipsch and polk audio, I thought these sounded fuller and looked even improvement peculiarly giving careful consideration to the price comparison to klipsch. I have a vaulted ceiling so the speakers are pointing exactly where I want them without aiming the tweeter. There’s no ring around the grill and these sit wholly flush in the ceiling. They look great. I would second everything the other reviewers said. I used these for all four of my front and surround speakers. The only problem I’m having is finding a small center speaker that sounds as good as these. I have tried a klipsch center and a polk audio center and these yamaha ceiling speakers had better highs than both and evidently better midrange with the 8″ woofer. I would try the Yamaha center but for galore reason they are all 6 ohm and I don’t want to mix that with these 8 ohm speakers. I have a Denon receiver and Denon doesn’t recommend mixing up different ohm speakers (although they said it ought to be fine.) Overall I am very happy with these and I am very specifi with regards to my home theater.

I use these Yamaha’s for the front speakers in a 5.1 Surround sound. They create very good sounds and look very good in the ceiling. They have no solid white ring around them as do the comparable Polk Audio RC 80i in ceiling 8 inch speakers. They are rated for a higher range and develop clear sounds in that range.

This center speaker adds the dimension to my seven speaker music strategy that I expect. I use it amongst a pair of Mission’s MV-8s and 2 pair of MV-2s on sides and back, driven by a Yahama RX-V1900. Its a very comfortible listening enviroment. The black plastic lamenent makes this line of Mission speakers look cheap. But the price reflects the use of the se materials.

This scheme is wonderful for a starter set. If you’re a college student, new to surround or looking for something simple for a smaller room, this is a swell options The largest plus in regards to this scheme is that I may hook up my Xbox (RCA hook up or digital). Keep in mind that If you hook it up with RCA you can’t get surround, but the stereo sounds amazing. I was afraid of Coby from all bad reviews on other systems. This one actually exceeded every expectations. Very clear sound, outstanding price and a outstanding DVD player make this perfect.

I’m 21 and live in an apartment so the rooms aren’t that big. I have a 100 sq. foot living room. This scheme is just right. When you finish setting it up (took me when it comes to 30 min, running cables and all) you need to put in a DVD like Lord of the Rings to test out the sound. If you leave everything at the default you’ll observe that there’s virtually no bass and the center speaker is WAY over powering. Play around with your setting for a while, you CAN get bass out of it, just look through the menus.

I view the Coby DVD938 from a “Value” perspective. Based on the relatively low price I do not expect top of the line performance; however, I do anticipate solid quality from a set of basic features.

The Coby DVD938 delivers on this criteria. Nothing fancy, just basic features with decent sound quality.

I would not commend this for your main home-theater setup. Instead I would recommend it for a secondary system.

My only “Beef” with this unit is the way in which the audio source defaults to DVD each time the unit is powered off and back on. Add to this a genuinely long delay on the Coby when switching amidst audio source input (approx. 3-5 seconds) and three audio input roots roots Radio, Line). My basi use is for audio from my Dish satellite receiver. This is the “Line” audio source on the Coby. So, each time I power the unit on I trudge through the procedure to switch to “Line” audio input… My work-around resolution to simply mute the Coby when powering down, then un-mute when powering back on (saves lots of time, but wastes such a good deal of electricity I suppose).

On the surface, this product seems to be gorgeous good at first. Then once it is all hooked up, things adjust a bit. The first thing you have to do is make sure you get all the settings rectify or you won’t get Dolby Surround on the external input.

The second thing I found out and it still bugs me is that it won’t hold the last “source” setting after you put it on standby. There are three source settings; DVD, Radio and Line. I use Line 90% of the time. But every time I shut the strategy down at night and then begin it up again the next day, I have to modify the source to line again. This is really just poor design.

The third problem is on such a heap of DVDs it will skip and not play them. I thought I had a bad DVD until I purchased my Blu-ray player a few weeks later and the DVD played fine on that.

Overall, the sound is great but I wouldn’t count on it for playing all DVDs well.

Somewhat easy to install. Hard the hardest time becoming it into surround sound but after playing awhile and using the TV to see the prompts, it was a breeze. Sound is awesome. Did not need the to run extra wire for antennea. Over all a good unit for the price

The sound is largely what I bought this for, since most LCD TVs have weak or poor sound. I’ve been pleased with the audio quality, but the AM/FM receiver is very weak. I ended up supplementing it with an FM antenna just to be able to get so many stations that didn’t sound like 30-70% static. The DVD player is in addition poor. Dark scenes cause my screen to flicker as the player is in so many manner not transmitting a genuine black to my TV decently properly doesn’t happen with dark scenes on cable, so it’s not the TV). I’ll most likely end up buying a DVD player to supplement this, which means that I’ll have spent a minimum of an extra $80 between the FM antenna & DVD player supplementation. If you’re looking for an all-in-one unit, look somewhere else. If you just want to get better sound for your TV, then this will do fine.

Not a bad merchandise Sounds good after replacing 20g wire with more prominent 8g. Does not remember settings after turned off(including volume). Volume very high when turned on and no control for with regards to a minute. Quality of speakers and sub ok. Very not up-to-date for connecting to advanced hi-def tv’s. Your old school rca jacks. Worth it to spend more on a more quality, up to date systems

I was disappointed from the very start. The instructions seemed to be written by a 10 year old. The strategy only had an AV output so I couldn’t connect my HDMI cable from my tv. When I at last got it all hooked up only 2 of the speakers worked and the ones that did, didn’t sound that great. But after 30 minutes of tinkering I realised that you can only use the “surround sound” when you are using the dvd player.

The response time from the remote to the dvd player took a very long time and on occasion it wouldn’t work at all. The dvd player would turn off randomly or change from dvd to radio. The radio stations didn’t come in clearly and some didn’t come in at all.

The overall quality of this product is crap. I will never buy a Coby system again.

I purchased the PlayTouch and spent a few days comparing it to a borrowed Zi8. I shot a couple of hours of footage in dissimilar situations and at dissimilar resolutions with the two mounted side-by-side. I thought a quick comparison of the two may be utile for others that are looking at the PlayTouch.

There were surely galore improvements in the PlayTouch over the Zi8:

* The device itself is smaller and sleeker. I think it looks a bit better than the older model.

* The low-light performance is better on the PlayTouch. Neither camera is swell in low-light, but the PlayTouch would get a picture in a dark room when the Zi8 would only record black.

* The PlayTouch had a much wider angle lens. My kids constantly seem to come close when the camera comes out, and the wider angle of the PlayTouch was much better in these situations.

* MP4 file format (vs. MOV on the Zi8). The MP4 files from the PlayTouch played back much more comfortable on my Windows machine than the equal MOV files from the Zi8. MP4 and MOV are just the container for the h.264 video inside, but for galore reason everything works better in Windows with MP4. My editing software (Sony Vegas) chokes on the .MOVs produced by the zi8, but works marvelously with MP4s. Obviously QuickTime rocks whether or not you’re on a Mac.

* The PlayTouch has such a heap of nifty “effects” for your video. I don’t think you’d ever use them in real life, but they’re fun to play with for a few minutes and perhaps kids would like them.

There were a few key ares in which the PlayTouch lost out to the Zi8:

* The video on the PlayTouch had WAY too much contrast. In a normal outdoor shot with the sun overhead and such a heap of light shadows from trees, half of the frame was blown out from the sun while the shadowy components looked wholly black. The Zi8 handled these situations with aplomb.

* The user interface on the PlayTouch was much slower and fewer responsive than the Zi8. Everything, from the menus to the time to get started out recording after pressing the button, felt much more sluggish on the PlayTouch.

* The video displayed on the screen while recording is tiny and lagged by when it comes to 1/2 a second. You’d think with a more prominent screen, the video displayed while recording would be bigger, but you’d be incorrect incorrect PlayTouch does display the video bigger on playback in landscape mode, though). The Zi8 video display didn’t lag at all.

* The video on the PlayTouch didn’t look as good as the Zi8 at any resolution. I don’t recognise whether or not it’s due to a lower bitrate or something else in the compression, but the video from the PlayTouch had a lot more blocking and jaggy artifacts.

* In anything but bright light, the PlayTouch video was exceedingly noisy. Much worse than the Zi8.

* The PlayTouch seemed to heat up when recording 1080p video. It didn’t get burning hot, but it was hot sufficient to cause me such a heap of concern.

* The PlayTouch crashed sometimes calling for a reset.

* Battery life was around 1 hour 5 minutes on the PlayTouch, while it was when it comes to 1 hour 30 minutes on the Zi8.

To me it was no question: I returned the PlayTouch and purchased a Zi8. The one downside to this is that it does not have an SD card with it is It DOEs have internal memory, but no SD card makes it a small confusing. Still,t his is merely a note and not a flaw. You are treated so good here that it seems like a hand-out is expected. Even the bag is sooo soft that I would use it to clean glasses – you sort of get spoiled by the thought of what could come next.

The charge last a long time, too, and I was surprised by that. I charged it and was playing with it for three days and it did not give me any problems. I merely plugged in the stuff it said, starting with the battery that was without doubt or question shown in a picture, and then hit the switch on the side that looks just like my power icon on my computer/X-box/ a million other things. And then I utilized the huge button that seems like the natural option to get me going. Everything else sort of came together and within two hours I had done everything I could with the intructions – and that is not a slight on this machine.

It is amazingly good. I have played with other things, the Flip and whatnot, and they are not one thing equated to this. Other pieces seem like toys setting on a table with an electronic device.

This EASILY deserves the 5 stars because it is HD, blows images up where you may play, has a mic that you may adjust to get sound from (these are hard on that one thing and I perpetually seem to think they are all a small small and it responds to tilting. Icons like to go where I am going and i like it a lot.

This camera is excellent. Ive experienced freeze-ups a couple of times but this camera is magnificent and more than competent of shooting quality footage. Completely upgradeable with camera lights, microphones and broad lens. I had the zi8 and its beauteous much the same thing accept for the touch screen feature and the ability to trim videos on the camera itself. I love it and have already put it to good applied I unquestionably reccommend this productions

This camera is worth having for the exceptional effects shooting modes alone. You may choose to shoot either video or still photos in normal mode, or in high saturation (ultra vivid bright 70′s (muted and faded colors), black and white or sepia. The normal mode is excellent for a cmera in this price range. But I use it for the high saturation and sepia effects. In the past month, I have taken shots of the mountain opinions with the leaves changing, at dawn and at dusk for the lighting effects. The high saturation mode makes great shots into spectacular shots. Sure, you could take your normal shots and Photoshop them for the high saturation, but it’s genuinely easy to take them in the high saturation mode and be able to upload them like that to Facebook or Flickr straight from the camera. Being able to shoot video in black and white or sepia is as well a lot of fun. It’s easy to make old movies or moody movies with those humble And whether or not you shoot video in the 70′s mode, it in truth looks like the old Super 8 footage. Lots of fun! You may be so originative with this camera, and all you have to do is push a button! Super super easy to use.

I find the quality of the video and still photos to be excellent. Obviously, they won’t be as tack sharp as those from my Nikon, but certainly for the price of this camera, the photos are genuinely great. For daily use, the quality is what you would expect from Kodak.

Also, you can edit your video right in the camera. It allows you to delete parts of the video you don’t want, so that you can upload a more finished video clip.

Yes, there are such a lot of cons. The video transfer to your computer or to an online website is accomplished via a USB arm that comes out of the side of the camera (just like a Flip camera). Also, transferring video to your computer or uploading it directly from the camera to Facebook or Flickr takes a few minutes. The transfer is done through Kodak’s software interface, and it seems a tad slow to me. But not a huge deal.

Some reviewers have complained with regards to the lack of responsiveness of the touch screen. The zoom is indeed accomplished by just resting your finger on the + or – button. Tapping is not necessary, and in fact ruins your photo clarity. It’s not necessary. Just exercise for a few minutes, and get the hang of its It can be smooth. I will say that it is easy to touch the wrong part of the screen and switch from shooting mode to viewing mode, but all you have to do is touch the button you use to take the photos and the screen switches back.

Yes, the camera does crash. Not often times (I use it every day and it has happened twice in a month). I spoke with tech help in regards to this, and they are working on a fix. Meanwhile, if the camera freezes or crashes, plainly remove the battery for a few seconds, and then put it back in. Fixed! And by the way, Kodak phone tech assist for this camera is excellent, ought to you need it.

Let me just get started off by saying the low light video quality is absolutely horrible. It’s blurry and pixelated. It works alright outside in an overcast sky. It doesn’t look “HD” like it claims. I tried 720p 30/60 and 1080p. All disappointed me…

Jello effect is still there and there is this annoying jerk to video… Where it like stops for a slip second and skips now and then.

The mic on this is very meh… I had to crank it nearly to max to get decent sound levels. The bad thing is even a very small breeze have a tendancy to make noise in the mic. I got the new firm ware that was freed in September for the wind issue. Doesn’t seem like it did anything.

Another major issue I had with this is the zoom feature. Given that it’s touch grounded on It tends to not function half the time leaving to un-smooth zooming. Your supposed to leave your finger on the area to zoom in and out smoothly… But it seldom works leaving you to tap it is Even then it still doesn’t want to zoom when you tell it too. I’m not certain why it does this. But all the finger oil may have something to do with it.

The software isn’t stream lined like they leave you to believe. It installs galore programs each with their own purpose.

The manual is small more then a very quick begin up guide. Nothing in depth at all. Leaving persons with little knowlage to cave man it.

Overall this cam is NOT worth the $229 asking pricey Save money and get a Zi8 for $117… Unless you want touch and percentage features.

My experience is as follows. Out of the box, I had such a heap of minor problems. After I altered and made sure I had the focus lever where it will have to be, I got good pictures with just a little practices The built in microphone works, but could use such a good deal of betterment by Kodak. I’ve got an older Flip camera that has better sound, but the Kodak Play Touch takes way better images, particularly using HD.

After using the camera for a while, I recommend buying it for the intent it was designed, namely casual movies that can be uploaded onto the web or played back on your tv or computer monitor. This is not a high end video camera, but rather a very commodious and unobtrusive way to have such a great deal of fun at parties or with family.

I purchased this camera not long ago to replace my Zi8 (which still works great and is a trooper). The video quality is the same, I have not noticed any major differences except the following:

4) Touch screen with onboard editing feature

The external mic jack is great for Vlogging, and the zoom takes such a lot of becoming employed to – (recommend you don’t tap it). I have not experienced the freezing or heating issues, the camera came with the altered firmware out of the box.

The on screen editing is really cool, I like that you can also pull a picture out of the video. Overall, really great camera and I’ve switched off of my Zi8 because of the wider angle.

Things to consider – (issues)

1) It is easy to use, but not as “stupid simple” as the Zi8. Whenever you get away from buttons and move to an “on screen” experience with editing features you will add such a great deal of complexity. However, spend a few minutes with it and you’ll quickly get utilized to it.

2) It is a little slower in picture mode than the Zi8. Not a problem with me since I use it primarily for video, but just something to be conscious conscious I get click with the mic (popping sound) when I plug in an external mic. I’ve eradicated this with playing with the gain on the mic volume, which is built into the camera – but be conscious that this may take such a lot of getting used to and you should experiment with it and make a few videos to get the right settings mix before you go out and start shooting. I think this issue would be dissimilar with different types of mics, so make sure you play with yours before shooting.

4) These cameras require an SDHC card. This is actually an advantage, because you can exaggerate the memory or put multiple cards in, and for me I have a laptop that takes SDHC cards, so I don’t even bother with the USB cable most of the time. With 32GB, you can record up to 10 hours of video in 720p mode I think. But I listed it as an issue because I think if you don’t know you need to purchase one, you can be disappointed to find that it only has 128MB of memory on board. This is a swell DVD/VCR and works very well. I knew that it did not have a TV tuner, which I figured was no problem, since I have satellite and would have to go through the box anyway. However, since there is no tuner, there isn’t a coaxial connector on the back, only RCA. So, if you have an old TV that only has a Coaxial connector, don’t buy this unless you in addition buy a RF Modulator.

Bought this model at a local Wal-Mart due to costly Since VCR’s don’t have a history of longevity, I was not wanting to spend more than I had poisonous Since the unit does not have a tuner, I had to buy a modulator in order to get it to work with my DISH unit. Attempted to play a few of our VCR tapes to check the quality. The firstborn tape skipped and had poor picture quality, even altho it played absolutely on our old VCR. This DVD/VCR player is doing precisely what I expected it to do. It plays all of my DVDs and I am able to watch my home videos (on tapes) which is why I bought it in the basi place. Hook-up was quick and did not need extra cables. I get a outstanding picture on my tv. For the price I paid, you can’t beat it is

I decisive to purchase this inexpensive VCR recorder/player(+DVD player)despite a number of negative reviews. It performs beyond my expectations. The quality of the VCR recording and playback is very good. It took such a swell deal of trial and error to hook it up to the external digital tuner that converts my analog TV to digital reception. And, because this Magnovox VCR recorder does not have its own internal tuner, it will record only the station that is set on the external tuner. You may not record one channel while looking at another. But you may preset the timer to record a program even if the TV is turned off, so long as the external tuner is turned on.

My criticisms are (1)the difficulty identifying (reading)the controls on both the unit and the remote control, and (2)the comparatively slow rewind. The red indicator lights on the unit are small and unmanageable to differentiate at a distance. The minscule, light numerals are the remote are difficult to read even close-up. But experience breeds familiarity and the unit and the remote become more user-friendly. Overall, within the limitations of the device, this is without doubt or question a Best Buy.

I just got this DVD/VCR combo two months ago. when it comes to two weeks after the last day to return it, the DVD player broke. It just won’t load DVDs anymore. The VCR works fine though.

Great buy. Just be aware that you can not run a tv cable through this unit. You need a cable box and then need to run red/white/yellow rca cable to tv. Something I found out later.

I obtained one of these as a gift, tried to set it up last night. It took two calls to tech aid to get the DVD tray to even open (some sort of particular code they have – attempt the remote, undertake the face panel, press and hold this, disconnect that, turn it off, turn it on, blah, blah, blah). I took it into the garage, bashed the crap out of it and felt a lot better. I will never buy another Magnavox product again!

For the price, this unit does exactly what I anticipate of it is This is my second purchase of this model. The other is still working fine after two years of comparatively light use in my childrens playroom. I chose to buy another when I necessitated a alternate for a broken DVD player for the small video scheme in our family room. The menus and features are not great but get the occupation done. I’ve owned both Leaf antennas and every one was hooked up to a splitter with 50 feet of coax going to two tvs. I tried adding an amp to the first leaf but it actually made the picture worse. The only difference as far as appearence is the leaf+ is very more or fewer larger and you have to plug it in (either the wall or usb on your tv.) The introductory leaf seemed to work swell pulling in strong but not perfect signal force but at night two of the channels wouldn’t work and when a semi drove past the picture would get choppy. I need to note that I live 30-60 miles from the towers.

I decisive to send Mohu an email and see whether or not I could get the amplified version and send back the regular one when I got the new one. It happened to be the 30th day after ordering the original so it fell into the timeframe for the 30 day cash back warranty. They sent out the amped leaf and boy am I happy with it is Over half of the stations now have a 100% signal intensities The others are all above 85%. There are so a heap of pros to this small antenna it is awesome awful portability, price, comfort of use, and best of all it is made in the USA!) The only con is that its not fully ‘omni-directional’ meaning you cant place it whereever you want. It took galore time to find the right spot for this thing to pick up all the channels. It was in addition not the most evident choice for placement. I thought hanging it in the window facing the towers would be my best bet but I pick up a better signal with it not facing the windows at all… it may have something to do with the signals bouncing off the walls but I can’t be totally certain regarding that. I obtained the antenna very quickly, and set up was very less complicated According to the FCC maps I should have good reception for 11 stations, and moderate for 5 more. I was thrilled that with this INDOOR antenna I obtained more like forty stations very clearly. I played with the position somewhat and rescanned and depending where in the room I placed the antenna I received among 39-44. The effigy is so much clearer than what I was becoming with cable. Previously, we had an unattractive rabbit ears configured with the antenna stretching throughout almost six feet. We ordered this hoping for better looks and better quality, and it delivered on both counts. The Mohu Leaf Plus was very simple to install. It is the thickness of a laminated sheet of paper, and has a black side and a white side, and either side may face out. We mounted it white side out versus a white wall, and it looks so much better than the old antenna. But the genuinely swell thing was the bettered performance. The kids & I did a “before” and “after” experiment, surveying the channels we picked up and the picture quality of the old antenna and the Mohu Leaf Plus. Even better than expected: we gained ten channels, going from 19 to 29, and at least three clearer pictures. None of the channels were lost or looked worse on the Mohu Leaf Plus. if you’re looking to cut your cable, you can’t go wrong with this.

I have been using the regular Leaf for awhile now and was very happy with the stations it did pull in, notwithstanding I was a bit disappointed at the number of stations it did pull in. At such a good deal of point I was going to add an extension and see if that would aid , but never got around to it.

Anyway, when I stumbled on the amplified version it was a no brain-er to give it a undertake and I’m glad I did!

Not much to say except I went from hardly 5 channels with my basic amplified uhf/vhf to becoming all 27 in my area with the leaf. No wiggling or moving it around. Perfect. I highly commend if you’re looking for better reception.

This gets 152 digital channels in a very difficult emplacement at our house. We have two non-amplified Leaf antennas for other areas so we thought that we would undertake the amplified one in a spot where the signal was being droped by an Winegard amplified antena (which was OK but which is quite a big and prominent thing). I cannot see the blue LED glow unless I get up close and look for it is We are very pleased with this and recommend that you try it out for your own hard to handle locations.

I perfectly LOVED this remote when I introductory got it over a year ago for $250. No more calls at work from my wife, asking me how to fix the snowy TV!

Unfortunately, after when it comes to 13 months it wouldn’t charge the battery anymore. I assumed it was merely the battery & it necessitated to be replaced. When I popped open the cover, the battery was so tightly jammed in there, I had to use a butter knife to pry it out. Once removed, I saw that the battery had swollen. A quick search on the internet showed that this was a standard problem with this battery & the cause of my non-charging issue. OK, so I ordered a new battery (not a generic, the real deal). It came & I replaced the battery. All was fine with the world for with regards to 3 months. Then the remote halted charging the battery again. Checked the battery, it looked fine… no swelling at all. Ordered yet another battery, assuming it was a non-visible issue with the battery. New one came & it won’t charge either, right off the bat!

Now I’m furious. A $250 remote that now won’t charge it’s battery. Plus $60 in substitute batteries for the thing. I anticipate MUCH better longevity than that on a device this expensive. Logitech will do nothing for me since it’s beyond the warranty period. An internet search shows that this is a very frequent problem with this remote. I don’t know whether or not the swollen battery caused such a heap of kind of electrical damage to the remote, or whether or not prying it out with the knife (even even though i was VERY careful) damaged something, or whether or not something just passed away all on it’s own, but it’s very discouraging & frustrating.

The Harmony allows you to cycle through choices to control each device, so when you choose DVD the Harmony remote will the right way control the DVD, and the same is true for the TV and the uVerse box. Of course, the Harmony can not emulate a computer mouse and keyboard, so I did not get full control of the media PC. But I can use the Harmony to make certain the TV is pointed to the Media PC source when I’m using that. whether or not all you need is a universal remote substitute for all your existent remotes, there are products cheaper than the Harmony One that fill that function. The real power of the Harmony One comes from it’s ability to be programmed to carry out user-defined “Activities” that ordinarily require issuing a series of commands from assorted remotes to get to the function you desire.

If you are going to modify your current Activity, I found it best to use the Harmony power button to turn everything off, affirm everything is really off, and then choose the new activity. I also programmed a string of “power down” commands that return the TV to a default input, and return the uVerse box to the TCM channel, before turning off both devices. That’s my “Default” setting. That way, the wife can manually turn on the TV and uVerse box and the TV will come on to the channel she likes best, without using the remotes at all. I suspect that irrespective of which activity you choose next, it’s best to have all widgets starting their individual power up sequence from a known default condition.

The Harmony One can be programmed to display on it’s touch screen a pictorial list of favored channels. 6 channels per screen, multiple screens. That makes it easy for the wife to find her favored channels, because when she chooses the “Watch Live TV” activity, all her bestloved channels are displayed and are just a finger touch away. No need for her to memorize 4 digit channel numbers for each or to scroll through all channels to find the ones she wants. However, the channel icons are not provided by Logitech. You will need to Google for “Harmony One icons” in order to find the user generated internet sites that provide the icons, such as iconharmonyDOTcom.

The “Activity” command strings and your device configurations are all stored on the Logitech web sites whether or not your Harmony One locks up or quits working, like mine did once, you must be capable to connect to the Harmony internetsite and re-download the configuration for your Harmony. As always, make certain the Harmony is fully recharged before you attempt to download the configuration. If the dog chews up your Harmony One, you can purchase a new one and download all the configuration files from the old one to get it up and running quickly.

The Harmony One has a built in troubleshooting function which you can arouse if your Activity does not perform as expected. It needs to step through every line of the command string and ask if that command was executed – it does not do this.

The battery life of the Harmony One is rather short, perchance 8 hours, even if sitting idle on your coffee table. So if you don’t put it back in the charging cradle at the end of each day, it will not function on the next day until it is recharged. Leave it discharged for a few days and you will in all likelihood have to reconnect it to the programming website and download the configuration all over again.

The infrared signals from the remote are apparently emitted in a somewhat narrow cone, and they may need to shine on assorted devices that are a few feet apart. So you do need to step back at least 6 feet from your AV center in order to make certain that both the TV and the DVD player are receiving the infrared signal. Step back at least 6 feet and point the remote somewhere half way between the several devices you are trying to control during start up.

Good luck with your Harmony One! I spent almost 6 hours programming my “Activities,” as I held trying substitute commands, duplicate commands, orders of commands, and different pause lengths. Activities that worked one day would stop working the next day, and I found I had to go back and increase the length of assorted pauses or alter to order of commands before I could get it to work consistently.

My wife is pleased, and she makes dinner for me again.

I’ve owned this remote for almost 1 year and today while home sick on the couch, it fell 15 inches to the floor and the LCD cracked. Logitech help said the warranty is voided by this.

I take very good care of my fragile products productions iPod, Kindle) and they’ve always handled the extremely rare accidental fall. Apparently dropping off the couch isn’t covered. In no way will have to an expensive remote like this not withstand a 15 inch fall. This has to be considered a design flaw.

Logitech help has offer me a 50% off their hugely jacked up store pricing – basically I can buy the remote again for what I’d find it at Newegg orAmazon.

Despite being a fan of the Harmony One, I can’t emphasize this enough- do not buy this remote if you’ve every had one fall off the couch. The warranty will not cover you.

I bought this remote based on a positive review I read on CNET. I firstborn tried to program the remote using my MAC and the software would just freeze at the final step. After several tries I put it on my PC and it ran OK. After programming, the remote functioned as advertised for about 48 hours. Then it displayed a low battery signal, would not charge, and died. I called Logitech client support. Similar to another review on Amazon I came across that the advertised help number with the remote does not aid the remote. After retrieving the 2nd number I was competent to speak to a service representative who said he would forward my case for review. A couple of days later I received an e-mail that I had been mailed a new battery. That was about a month ago. I still do not have a battery or a functioning remote. I called again and this time customer service said my case was still open because they do not have any of those type batteries. I suggest that you avoid this company totally as they evidently cannot support what they sell.

Squaretrade 4 Year Warranty 2500 3000 Plasma

I bought a Square Trade Warranty for a flat panel TV that I bought online when the unit failed after 4 months I contacted Square Trade, they asked for a receipt of buy which I provided.

They then instructed me to have the unit repaired by a certified technician of my choosing and email them a copy of the bill which I did. Two days later they transposed the funds to my paypal account just like they had advertised.

Overall I rate their performance as excellent.

I haven’t purchased this yet: it is in my shopping cart and I will likely buy it.

However, I just got off the phone with SquareTrade [1-877-WARRANTY] and thought I’d pass on data I got from them as well as reading the reviews of the company on the San Francisco BBB internetlocation web site and on epinions.com [...]

Once I described my TV to the SquareTrade phone representative, he gave me the rectify Amazon code to look up this warranty [...] and add it to my cart.

2. You have 90 Days FROM THE DATE OF ORDERING YOUR COVERED buy (not deliverance deliverance to buy the extended warranty. So, I suggest you add this warranty to your cart or wish list and then wait to accept your covered product from Amazon and review the MANUFACTURER’S Warranty.

3. This is a repair/cash value warranty, which means that they will not provide any service beyond the price you compensated for your covered product.

I purchased a 3 year warranty when I bought my Samsung Plasma two years ago for $999 and did not read the fine print in SquareTrade’s contract. It is not a 3 year warranty as they represent rather it merely reimburses you for the buy price of the TV. I discovered this the hard way when I went back and read the “fine print”. I had a problem with the power supply which cost $450 to mend and then I had a problem with the screen and was told they would only reimburse me for up to $549 which was the balance of my contract.

IF YOU WANT A TRUE 3 YEAR WARRANTY DO NOT BUY FROM SQUARETRADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had to file 2 claims with Squaretrade over the past few years & they tried every conceivable way to argue out of paying – even wanted to send out parts for ME to fix my computer and, on another claim, TWICE denied receiving my emailed receipt. They in the end paid, but it was NOT an easy or pleasant process. And BE SURE to read the full contract before you buy.

Squaretrade is NOT required to recompense you the “purchase” pricey Their contract has many qualifiers such as “in most cases” and “up to the buy price.” If they don’t mend it or replace with a refurbished unit (that’s right, and not inevitably manufacturer refurbished), they are only required to pays you the substitute value AT THE TIME OF THE CLAIM. Four years down the road the “replacement” value of your now nearly obsolete TV will be a LOT less. They may in addition “replace the Product with a new, rebuilt or refurbished product of equivalent or alike features and functionality.” That’s a direct cite from one of my Squaretrade contracts.

If it fails 3-4 years from now, it is doubtful you will get your buy price to buy a new one with all the latest features. Squaretrade may replace it with the then-current LOW-END product, even a refurbished one, or just compensate you to buy such a productions Of course it would have features equal to or better than your 3-4 year old TV, but certainly not what you could have gotten if they had refunded your initial buy highpriced Squaretrade benefits from technical advances and you lose.

So beware. Read the contract and acknowledge what you’re becoming for the money money worth it for you, perhaps perhaps It’s NOT your ordinary extended warranty contract, and in my experience Squaretrade has been very deceptive with regards to that fact.

I decisive to buy this warranty shortly after we ordered a Mitsubishi WD-73737 73-Inch 1080p 120Hz Home Theater DLP HDTV from Amazon, because Amazon recommended this service.

THE purchase EXPERIENCE

Getting the warranty was relatively easy. I had a few questions because our TV is a DLP, not an LCD, Plasma or LED but, to my surprise the off-shore individuals answering the phone – and it was easy to get to talk to a humane – were capable to intelligently search their knowledge base, find the definition of DLP, determine that my TV could be covered, in the right way answer my question regarding the DLP’s alternate lamp (no, it’s not covered) and made a note in their strategy that my TV was a DLP.

Shortly after I genuinely completed the purchase at Amazon, I received an email from SquareTrade that had a printable copy of the service agreement/contract.

I was told over the phone that I had to get a userID/password at their site in order to be competent to manage my coverage information. Once that completed, I was able to log in and retrieve my contract number and instructions on how to send SquareTrade my proof of purchase – simply paste Amazon’s invoice into an email that has the contract number in the subject line.

SquareTrade then sent me an email that acknowledged me sending them my proof of purchase and advising me to keep the firstborn because they were not going to really verify my purchase until I made my introductory claim.

COVERAGE

It may be interesting to comprehend how coverage works without spending time on the phone with the company reps so, here it is.

- There is a 60-day full refund upon cancellation provision so, if you don’t like the service agreement, it’s easy to cancel.

- This coverage is concurrent with the manufacturer’s warranty. In other words, this 4-year coverage begins on the day you sign for it but SquareTrade won’t be taking claims from you while the manufacturer’s warranty is still in effect. If your manufacturer has a one-year warranty on your TV, SquareTrade will cover it for years 2, 3 and 4.

- The value of coverage is limited to whatever you remunerated for your TV. This is primary so, let me provide the full quote from the agreement:

[The total amount that We will pays for repairs or replacement made in connection with all claims that You make pursuant to this Service Agreement shall not exceed the purchase price of the Product, less taxes. In the event that We make payments for repairs, which in the aggregate, are equal to the purchase price or replace the Product with a new, rebuilt or refurbished product of equal or similar features and functionality, We will have no further obligations below this Service Agreement.]

- There is a ‘no lemon’ provision in the agreement which states that if the same item is repaired 3 times for the same defect within a year they will replace your TV with an equivalent product, at which time the warranty coverage ends – will not cover the replacement.

- If your TV is damaged by a power surge and you had a power surge protector they may ask you to send it over to them for examination (probably to see if they may get such a good deal of money from the power surge protector manufacturer).

- Any time we are talking in regards to replacements, they reserve the right to ask for the incorrect item to be sent to them and they will provide the box and the shipping label.

- They will aid arrange for in-house repairs and remunerate the repair company directly.

- They do not cover scratches or cracks.

- They do not cover any harm caused by you doing terrible things to your TV – like leaving it out in the rain.

- There is no deductible.

- They will allow for the agreement to be transferred if you sell your TV – can do it at their Web site.

MY RATING

I haven’t made any lay claim yet but, since Amazon stands behind this company and based on the service agreement and on my experience in transaction with the people at the call center, I am confident that this is a company worth doing business with so they get a 5-star.

I bought their warranty as I had a bought a new to the market digital camera on ebay, and after 2 yrs and 8 months of a 3yr waranty I thought it was a lost cause, when my camera failed on vacation in China, and I had to buy another while away, ( which got stolen before I could insure it….go figure). But I contacted Square sell on my return and to my amazement they not only responded, but sent me a UPS return label for it means AND 2 weeks later, repaid the FULL buy price into my PayPal account…. I was IMPRESSED to say the least!!!! I have since insured my new camera, and my laptop with them, and will as well have them cover my soon to be bought IPhone too…and am a CONFIRMED beliver in SQUARE TRADE… and all my friends acknowledge it soooo, JUST DO IT….NOW!!!!

Late December 2008 I bought a refurbished camera from a very reputable company on E Bay. When I was offered the Square Trade Warranty, I was a little leary. (I had bought warranties through well named stores in the past and had horrid experiences when my item failed) After researching Square Trade, I bought an extended warranty plan for my camera. To my dismay, my camera failed to carry out 9 months after bought I contacted Square Trade via e-mail, they e-mailed me a postage remunerated return label. I printed my label and conservatively packaged up my defunct camera and off it went. Square Trade held me informed each step of the way, from shipping, to receipt of the camera, and the bad news: it was not repairable. This is a review for the warranty service provided on my Flip Video Ultra 60 min. unit. I bought a 3 year plan from Square Trade Warranty. The video failed to the extent it would only record 9 minutes even when completely empty. Square Trade completely reimbursed me for the purchase price once I had gone through their simple and relatively quick routine for sending the unit to them for validation of its malfunction. I have other Square Trade Warrantees and intend on getting this cost-effective way of warrantying future purchases. This review might appear in the defective area as their link to me to fill out this survey was for video camcorders in the $400-450 price range, which the Flip video is certainly not (about $120). I highly commend Square Trade Warranty as a simple, cost-effective way to warranty your purchases. The four stars on the review refer to the Flip Video. I would give FIVE stars to Square Trade for their warranty and service.

You never know how good a warranty is until you have to file a claim on its I had bought two former warranties through SquareTrade “just in case” the refurbished items I purchased did not hold up. The items where outstanding and I never had to file a claim. The third time I purchased a warranty on a camera that gave out after with regards to 4 months of employed I was astonished and impressed how speedily SquareTrade responded; sent the info on how to mail the item back to them at their cost; and how quickly they obtained the item got back to me that it was not repairable and issued a FULL refund of the purchase costly They are definitely true to their word. Never again will I buy an in-store warranty since I know I will get a less expensively price through SquareTrade and I know first-hand they will honor the warranty ought to I have problems. Other folks, whose initials are BestBuy, acknowledged the camera I bought from them was broken, but would not honor the warranty they sold me. You can buy a warranty from Square Trade for for what ever electronics you have, even for a utilized item on Ebay ! They have drop and spill warranty too that you can add. It is very easy, they keep everything online for you. whether or not you subscribe to their newsletter they often times have discounts. I just had a camera failing, they replied to my email the next day, offered me a shipping label to print to send my camera, and 2 or 3 days after, sent me an email saying they were going to reimburse me the price of my camera on my Paypal account. A few more days after, it’s done and I can buy another, newer camera. Thanks Square Trade.

I purchased a digital camerea on ebay and decisive to by this warranty on a whim. I am so glad I did. My camerea broke several months later leaving me beauteous upset. I started my online claim the same day, which was so easy. They followed up with ideas on how to repair my camerea and a phone number to call if those ideas did not work. Of course my camerea was unrepairable. I sent it in and received a full refund within days. I could not be happier with my warranty. I will definetly buy this warranty to cover my new digital camerea.

I purchased a camera in December 2007 for my husband. I in addition purchased the Square Trade 3 year warranty for a very fair rated Recently the camera lost the ability to focus and I returned it as per Square Trade instruction. They assesed the problem, determined it was not fixable and sent money to my PayPal account. No questions asked. I would highly commend this coverage.

Square Trade Warranties are the best. If they cant fix your item they pay you the full price you remunerated for item. They take are of it within 5 days. I tell everybody about them. I’ve had 2 claims and they have been great each time.

I have had numerous warranties by way of square trade.

Only one time did I purchase a gift, that quit working—I contacted square trade and within 10 days I had my purchase price returned to me.

I am very pleased with them—the price is right and they do take care of you.

I bought this replacement/refund policy for my new Epson 8350 projector because of it is iron-clad guarantee that: 1)one would NOT have to pay for shipping whether or not necessary, 2) substitute components would not be third party or refurbished, 3) the projector bulb is covered versus failure, and 4)coverage starts on the day you accept the item.

Instead, when you really receive the policy (in an email) and get to read it over carefully cautiously one really ought to should I found a long list of exclusions, including non-coverage on “consumer replacement parts” ; the projector bulb is NOT covered against failure, replacement constituents may be third party (non-manufacturer) or refurbished or rebuilt – not NEW, OEM as described on amazon, and, whether or not the projector is to be substituted “SQUARE TRADE” can do so with a “like” model or a refurbished model – their choices Also, the possessor is responsible for shipping charges.

I do not realise the apparent 180 degree turnaround in wording/coverage from what is advertised on amazon versus what is in writing on the contract one receives in electronic format. usually Amazon is right on the mark and cash with what is sold on their web sites It doesn’t appear to be this way this time with this insurance policy. Beware, review this policy carefully, as what is in writing is what you get.

After purchasing this warranty, I obtained a “courtesy” call from SquareTrade. I explained to them that I bought a 4 year warranty but their creative writing of recognized artisti value for the product covered, a TV projection bulb, stated that it could only be covered for 3 years. After being transferred to a “specialist”, he said I should cancel the warranty as they did not cover TV projection bulbs, period. It sounded a small “fishy” since even Amazon’s page would suggest purchasing this warranty for the projection bulb. Anyhow, Amazon refunded the warranty bought

I bought a GPS off of eBay nearly 2 years ago. I compensated $20 for 2 years insurance from Square Trade. After 20 months, my GPS screen failed and I registered a arrogate with Square Trade. Their routine was simple, efficient and utterly excellent. Within a few days my lay lay claim was processed, approved and the full amount of what I in the initial place paid for the GPS, was paid out to me occupation without any resistance.

This was by far the biggest insurance experiences I have ever had. I highly commend purchasing Square Trade insurance on any electronic product you purchase occupation I surely will in future.

I bought a SquareTrade Warranty for My TomTom One. After 11 months it halted working, I contacted Squaretrade, sent the item back and they checked it out and refunded my full purchase expensive The entire process took fewer than 5 days commence to finish. These are swell folks to deal with.

SquareTrade’s 4-year electronics warranty was purchased for me as a gift, along with a radar detector. The process of buying the warranty and transferring it over to my name was aboveboard and took very little time. Within days I obtained a letter welcoming me, along with selective information when it comes to my extended warranty. I also obtained a phone call to confirm that I received my materials, and asking whether I had any questions. I have had no need to rely on my warranty therefore far, but I am very happy with the customer service.

I called the company to ask a few questions about this deal because I had never purchased a SquareTrade deal before. The warranty starts on the basi day that you purchased your product, regardless of when you purchased your SquareTrade warranty. My product already has a one-year warranty, and so for the duration of the first year I have both my product’s warranty and this SquareTrade warranty. My understanding is that you generally want to make use of your product’s warranty first, and whether or not it fails, then the SquareTrade warranty kicks in. If something with my product cant be substituted or fixed, then I will either get a new product or get back the full value of my merchandise

While I do not often use Square Trade, other than for purchasing a warrenty, which is constantly much lower in cost, as compared to others, such as Sears, etc.

I have not had difficultnesses when using ST, usually those that do, are ones that do not understand how the warrenty works, so ask question before you buy.

We purchased a warranty on a employed TomTom in February. It failed in Nov. We filed the claim online and Square Trade emailed us the link to print a prepaid shipping label to send the unit in for verification of the troubles Within 2 days we received a full refund. Everything is done online very easily and far more lowpriced than in-store warranties. We have bought their warranties on all of our electronics. Well worth considering for your purchases.

I recommend purchasing a warranty for small electronic items. I purchased a 3 year warranty for a GPS and needed it a year later. The warranty was no hassle and a prompt refund was sent to me as well as a prepaid shipping label to return the defective product.

I purchased another warranty when I purchased another GPS. I have peace of mind. Priceless!
